Welcome back.
Hello,
I'm not a Trekkie myself; but I do have a fascination of Star Trek's ships, specifically in Star Fleet. Tonight, i'm doing an analysis of Enterprise B & C, which are, to my opinion, one of the most bizarre ships to hold the name 'Enterprise'.
ENTERPRISE 1707-B, EXCELSIOR CLASS
Taking an in-depth look of the Enterprise 1707-B, it has very strange distinct features and is different from it's predecessor.
The nacelles (those long bar things) are oddly designed, and is un-orthodox compared to normal Starfleet nacelle design. Speaking of the nacelles, their pylons (the things holding them) are in a, once again, un-orthodox design, being just about in a 90 degree angle. While this does not seem to annoy me, it is quite rather vulnerable when it comes to attacks. Next, the deflector beam area is somewhat caved in and the design looks sleek, but also bizarre (Sorry to say, but you'll be hearing words like that A LOT.) It doesn't annoy me either, but when taking a look at the ship's bottom hull and the neck, that's when things take a turn to probably the worst. The front part of the bottom doesn't look bad, but at the back, it's just a completely flat area. This is strange architecturally and I question if Starfleet ship designers weren't just smoking bong during blueprint construction of this class. And, finally, the neck. It is very strange from the rest, and to put it simply, it essentially looks like a swimming pad you put on your shoulders. This may be biased, but some can agree that the Excelsior Class is not as great as it seems in aesthetics-wise.
ENTERPRISE 1707-C, AMBASSADOR CLASS
The Enterprise 1707-C to say, isn't as bad as the bizarre Excelsior class, and has some features used in the Constitution-class, like the rotund engine area, the sleek neck, the wide deflector dish, and the red hydrogen collectors in the front. While it does have a flat end like the Excelsior Class, it isn't as bad, however it does have, once again, the exposed 90 degree angle nacelle pylons, which could definitely change my view on the aesthetics on the ship a lot if it's changed to a more aerodynamic design.
